The Liegemen: Origins

Liegemen: Origins Ep. 2
"Answers"

Andrew, now known as Bullet, had spent the week following the team’s escape, searching for answers. Most of his leads had come up with nothing but one paper trail led him to another facility nearby owned by one of Enterprise Pharmaceuticals subsidiaries. The group agreed to investigate the facility and see if they could turn up any answers.

Upon arriving at the location, they found that there were night shift guards posted at the front entrance. After some time they were able to find a side entrance and after some finagling, they broke the lock. Some time and a 40 floors later, the group found their way down to a basement level chamber similar to the one Qinvaela and Austin had been held. The gates were open and workers were breaking down equipment within the inner chamber. The team sprung into action, taking out the guards and workers. A worker revealed that all the equipment was being taken to a cargoship and moved across national waters.

Moments later the gates began to shut behind them and a speaker announced a self destruct sequence was in progress. The team escaped, bringing all the defeated workers with them.

The police were already outside surrounding the building when the group ran out. After a quick scuffle with the nearest officers, the Qinvaela, Paris, and Austin jumped into a nearby car and drove off, Andrew and some police cars close behind. The car chase swerved between incoming traffic and the highway. Both Austin and Andrew were able to lose the police and continued onto the docks.

The group snuck onto a large cargoship loading large crates. They proceeded to quietly subdue the guards patrolling the deck as the boat headed out to sea. They were then greeted by John Zhukov, a young Russian attempting to escape the ship. He had been a captive for years and had finally freed himself.

His two test subject “brothers” (a large hulk behemoth and an electrically charged human battery) then crashed through the deck floor and attacked John and the others. John used his telepathy and telekinesis to help the team fight the two combatants. They was able to defeat the pair of hypnotically controlled supers, only to be surrounded by the remaining guards.

Outnumbered and exhausted, Andrew and the others retreated into the depths of the ocean, protected by John’s telekinetic bubble. As the heroes descended deeper and deeper into the sea, they began to see a light. Soon they were in sight of what they had always thought to be legend, the lost city of Atlantis.

"Beginnings"

Their story began with a scream:

“Wake Up!”

Andrew Avery, a young amateur hacker and web designer, and Paris Gunn a local Beacon City rockstar, awoke to a voice in their heads. The two rise up on medical tables in a lab, iv’s in their arms, amongst hundreds of sedated people also lying on similar medical tables. The two had met months prior during experimental treatment sessions with a new drug prototype called Re.new.ssance.

The two suffered from serious medical conditions. They had each heard of the drug helping countless people with a multitude of different conditions. Soon they were both taking daily rations of the drugs. They had met in the waiting room during preliminary interviews. The two exchanged jokes and phone numbers and were soon in constant contact with one another.

About a month into their treatment, the two started to exhibit near impossible abilities.

Shortly after finishing treatment, the two were out enjoying the city and were attacked by men in masks, knocking them out, only to wake up in the lab.

The pair escaped the room and subdued a group of guards in the hallway outside. They took an elevator down, assuming they were on an upper floor of a building. They arrived at the lowest floor only to find two colossal doors. Andrew used his supersonic speed to try every possible combination on a keypad, opening the gates.

Inside were two large pods along with computers, large cables, and a multitude of electrical equipment. Andrew went to the computers and attempted to find out where they were and what had happened to them. Paris inspected the pods only to find to young women inside. Andrew found that the two women in the pods were subjects of experiments called “Minerva” and “Artemis”. The rest of the people in the labs were part of other experiments as well. Andrew and Paris released the two women.

The two women awoke slowly, asking where they were. Andrew and Paris explained and introduced themselves. The two women were Austin a young girl from the rural area surrounding Beacon City, and Qinvaela a biological researcher from an alien planet. The two joined our heroes to escape the facility, but they had to first retrieve some of Qinvaela’s equipment and help the other subjects escape as well.

The party split and was able to retrieve a cellular reconstruction device capable of turning a user to different animals the user. The other pair was able to return to the unconscious captives and free them. The group along with all the newly freed subjects escaped through the front doors of the Enterprise Pharmaceuticals facility, fighting a horde of guards waiting in the lobby.

Our heroes were able to run into the open air and escape from a police helicopter chasing them. The four split up and regrouped hours later at a park in the center of the city. They agreed to stay together, discover why they had all been taken and who was behind it, and bring those responsible to justice.

We finish with a skyline shot of the city. Siren lights can be seen throughout the streets. An explosion is seen somewhere in the city’s depths, an omen of the future of Beacon City.
